🏔️ Wulingyuan Core Area · Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
Part of the same Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area as Huanglong Cave and a core zone of a World Natural Heritage site, famed for its "three thousand peaks and eight hundred streams". Classic spots such as Golden Whip Stream, Ten-Mile Gallery, Yuanjiajie and Tianzi Mountain all lie here. Plan a full day or split it over two, depending on fitness and time.

A classic stream-side hike flanked by peaks — cool, quiet and scenic.
Ten-Mile Gallery
Peak forest like a painting — walk or take the sightseeing tram.
Yuanjiajie · Tianzi Mountain
Classic viewing terraces; misty days look like a fairyland.
🌊 Baofeng Lake
An alpine lake known as the "Jade Pool of the Human World", with mirror-like water and reflected peaks. Boat rides are available — a natural pairing with Huanglong Cave for the same or an adjacent day.
⛰️ Tianmen Mountain
Famous for Heaven's Gate Cave, cliff walkways and the glass skywalk — another signature Zhangjiajie sight. Shifting cloud and mist make the views dramatic. Best as a separate day; note the cableway and tickets are purchased separately.
🌆 Fenghuang Ancient Town · Furong Town (day trip)
If time allows, visit Fenghuang Ancient Town or Furong Town in western Hunan to enjoy riverside stilt houses and old-town charm. Both are far from Zhangjiajie downtown — allow a full day or an overnight stay.

Morning · Huanglong Cave
Visit the cave in the morning — about 2–3 hours, cool and comfortable inside.
Afternoon · Baofeng Lake or Ten-Mile Gallery
Head nearby in the afternoon for an easy finish.
Next Day · Forest Park / Tianmen Mountain
With more energy, add a full day exploring the Wulingyuan peaks or Tianmen Mountain.
